The July/Aug issue of the magazine is out and I have a full page feature under the artist spotlight section, needless to say I am thrilled.I really want to thank the editor Kim Hall for choosing my work and helping with the interview, she was such a delight!

I just completed this small piece as a prequel to a larger one. I actually started this as a small sketch on a 5×7 board to test for colors but soon I got so caught up in the detail it turned out to be a piece for itself. I used Gamsol for the blurring effects in the bg and it seem to work very nicely.

I recently got the Dick blick art board and thought would give it a try. The surface is like canvas and it’s conveniently mounted in the back. I used my usual neocolors and Colored pencils on it and also added some Gold leaf and inks for fun. I found it really difficult to add layers on it because the colors kept rolling off. I had to be really careful not to touch the surface while working or I was pulling off a lot of pigment. Using the bristle brush did help increase saturation but only to a level. Also a brush on varnish pulled off more color! I think this board would be great for wetmedia but does not work for mixed media so much. That’s just my 2 cents!

Back home and some good news!

I am back from a wonderful vacation back home, it was HOT and humid but it’s home nevertheless!

As soon as I came back I learned that I did not get into CPSA convention this year, but many of my friends did so I am really happy for them. But I do have a piece of good news to share, I am going to be featured in the Professional Artist Magazine’s Artist Spotlight section! The full page feature will be published in the July/August issue and will be available in the newsstands by the first week of June!!
