I am getting ready for my upcoming workshop coming up on February 21 at University Art Store. The workshop will focus on creating shiny surfaces on #Ampersand Pastelbord using my usual technique of Neocolor II and colored Pencils. I will be explaining the tips and tricks on how to use minimal colors to render reflective surfaces. We will also discuss how to varnish and frame colored pencil works to avoid using glass over them.
Here are the details, please call the store to sign up, hurry!

“Colored Pencil Magic – Learn to create silver “
I have been busy with several things in my work and personal life that I did not have any time to write a blog post. I had a two person show at the #Sanramon Community Center which went really well. Thanks to Tri-Valley publications I was interviewed for a half-page article featuring my work on their newspaper – http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/article/zz/20150908/NEWS/150905311
I then took a vacation to Montreal & Quebec which was a fantastic experience! I am yet to download the pictures from my camera for this one.
On October 7, I had my woks at the Livemore Art Walk with my fellow CPSA 201 San Fancisco chapter members, sold a couple of prints and made some good contacts.
I do have a few of announcements to make, I will be participating in the Triton Museum Holiday Bazaar on Dec 5th. I will be posting more information regarding this event a later date. I will be having my second workshop at UART in San Jose sometime in January , stay tuned regarding the details.
Our Seattle District chapter of CPSA has come up with the Northwest Colored Pencil Tips Book! We did this several years ago and it was a fantastic hit that we had to do a second one. This book contains tips from 55 artists, chock full of information, tips, techniques covering various surfaces and methods. If you like Color pencil then this is a must have! Our editors Pam Belcher and Sheila Theodaratos have dedicated a lot of time and effort into putting this one together. I am so happy to be a part of this wonderful venture. My article is about “Stretching your Boundaries- overcoming the Artist’s block”. You can order this book online here – http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/989402?__r=339077&s=w
My piece “Giant Reflections” has been juried into the California State Fair fine art exhibit. It’s one of the only four colored pencil pieces in the show. This visual arts exhibition is recognized as one of the Golden State’s largest and most prestigious juried art shows. The show opens July 10th @ Sacramento – http://www.castatefair.org/fineart/
This piece was also chosen in the Fav 15% for April in #Faso #boldbrushcompetition – http://faso.com/boldbrush/fav15/163.
Also, earlier this month I had a wonderful time at the Black Hawk, Gallery in Danville with the opening of Rhapsody Exhibit.
I have been working on this piece for a couple of months and finally I completed this today right in time to submit for the CPSA International show. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this piece, which is part of my Origami Series of Still-life. The batik fabric is from India and so are the marble elephants. After doing a lot of cranes in my previous Origami works, it was refreshing model an elephant and include that in my still-life.
Elephants are one of my most favorite animals, they are one of the strongest animals in the planet yet very lovable and gentle by nature. Elephants are also considered as a power symbol of commitment, royalty & strength.

” Each year CPSA ( Colored Pencil Society of America ) sponsors an exciting and innovative exhibition called “Explore This!” on its website every year. Artwork must be predominantly colored pencil and must include some element or technique that is unacceptable for the International Exhibition. This permits artists to experiment with various mediums and surfaces as well as three-dimensional, collage and relief artworks. ”
